I moved back to Nijmegen to start my PhD and quickly found a nice one-bedroom apartment in the centre of Nijmegen in the renovated part close to the river. This was a perfect place to be, close to all the shops and the bars, but still close to the university where I spend many weekends to do experiments. The apartment only had a small balcony with no sun, but the river and lakes were close. Although I worked quite hard, I still see my PhD almost as an extension to my student's life. Lots of freedom and I enjoyed it.
